Wine, landscape and the stories between them.
A journal of vineyards, geology, growers and the places that shape what ends up in our glass.

Earth to Glass
Some landscapes are shaped by fire. Some by rivers. Some by vanished seas, glaciers, landslides and time. All of them shape how a vine lives, and so what reaches the glass.

About the bookWhy does a wine taste of where it comes from?
Not, as far as the evidence goes, because minerals from the rock turn up as flavours in your glass. Soil works further back: on water, roots and warmth, and through them on the vine. Pick a soil.
Varies enormously: young ash can drain very freely, older weathered soils can hold water well. What that means in the glass depends on the grape, the climate and the grower.

Wine chosen for people, not scores.
A good wine selection begins with a conversation. I offer personal wine guidance and carefully considered selections, drawing on my wine studies, travels and years in international hospitality. The aim isn't the most impressive labels. It's wines you'll genuinely enjoy.
